India’s Women-Led Startups Poised for Global Recognition

Women-led development has emerged as a driving force in India’s economic landscape, with a growing emphasis on entrepreneurship and leadership. Union Minister Jitendra Singh highlighted the rising influence of women in the country’s startup ecosystem, noting their contributions across industries and their increasing presence on the global stage.

Speaking to a delegation from the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry-Ladies Organisation (FICCI-FLO), led by Young FICCI Ladies Organisation (YFLO) Delhi President Payal Kanodia, Singh pointed out that Indian women-led startups are making a global impact. He emphasized how even in challenging sectors such as space, women have taken on leadership roles, citing the example of ISRO scientist Nigar Shaji, who led India's solar mission, Aditya L1.


The minister stated that since 2014, women's empowerment has been given a tangible direction, with several government initiatives creating opportunities for women to step into entrepreneurship. Welfare schemes such as PM MUDRA and PM Vishwakarma have played a crucial role in enabling women to start and scale their businesses, allowing them to contribute significantly to the country's economic landscape.

Over the years, the shift in women’s roles from participation to leadership has been evident across professions. Singh underlined that the Modi government has taken decisive steps to provide employment opportunities for the youth by launching various initiatives and transforming India’s work culture. By blending traditional Indian values with modern approaches, the government has been able to craft policies that address the diverse needs of the nation.


As India positions itself as a leader in innovation and transformative technologies, Singh expressed confidence that women-led startups will be at the forefront of this journey. He stressed that with the right support and policies in place, Indian women entrepreneurs have the potential to drive the nation’s progress and elevate its standing on the global stage.
