Kanchan Ugursandi, a motorcyclist from Jharkhand known as the “Biker Girl,” has made history by becoming the first biker to reach Lipulekh Pass.

Located at an altitude of 17,500 feet on the India-China border, the pass is part of the challenging Kailash Mansarovar route. Her incredible journey showcases her determination and love for adventure.

At just 32 years old, Kanchan started her journey from Delhi, traveling through Pithoragarh in Uttarakhand. The route was not easy, with rough terrains and high altitudes. In an interview, she shared how she had attempted this journey twice before but had to turn back due to landslides near Dharchula. On her third attempt, she finally succeeded, making her achievement even more remarkable.

Lipulekh Pass is significant for both strategic and religious reasons. It connects India, China, and Nepal and has been an important route for Indian pilgrims traveling to Mount Kailash for the sacred Mansarovar Yatra. Earlier, this journey required weeks of trekking, but with the new road built by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), it has become much easier. Kanchan’s journey brings attention to the importance of this pass, not just for pilgrims but also for its strategic value.

During her trip, Kanchan appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to create a Kailash Mansarovar corridor, similar to the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor in Pakistan. She believes this would make the journey to Mount Kailash more accessible for Hindu pilgrims and fulfill an important cultural need.

Kanchan’s success is not just a personal achievement but an inspiration for adventurers everywhere. Her story shows that with persistence and determination, even the toughest challenges can be overcome. Her journey to Lipulekh Pass reminds us of the beauty of exploration and the deep connection between India’s culture and its landscapes.
