Preeti Chandrashekhar Becomes First Woman President of Institute of Actuaries of India

Preeti Chandrashekhar has made history as the first woman to be appointed President of the Institute of Actuaries of India (IAI). This marks a significant milestone for the institution, which has had ten presidents since becoming a statutory body in 2006.
An accomplished professional, Chandrashekhar holds an MPhil in statistics from the University of Delhi and is a certified Pensions Actuary. With over 34 years of expertise in insurance, pensions, and risk management, she is widely respected for her leadership and contributions to the actuarial profession.
In an official statement, IAI acknowledged her extensive experience and commitment to advancing the organization. “Preeti Chandrashekhar is a seasoned professional whose exceptional work has strengthened the insurance and pensions sectors. Her leadership will further enhance the institute's capabilities in emerging fields like data science, climate finance, and economic forecasting, helping members meet evolving market demands,” the statement read.
